Known for images that capture the human experience of climate change, Gideon Mendel will give an overview of Drowning World, his series dedicated to the aftermath of catastrophic floods from across the globe, and Burning World, a body of work that responds to wild fires that have taken place since 2020, destroying people, homes and millions of acres of land.
There will be opportunity to view a new moving image work by Mendel that will also be on display. Using images and tracking shots from the two aforementioned series, it takes us into the lives of individuals as they navigate landscapes and domestic spaces, now rendered unfamiliar through fire and flood.
