Considered part of the slow movement menu, slow looking is simply a way of slowing down as we take in the visual world using skills of observation and prolonged active looking. This online Slow Looking session invites participants to listen to audio descriptions of a selection of Helen Levitt's photographs, each followed by discussion. Scroll down to view the five photographs that will be described and discussed.
Audio descriptions are produced and read by Eleanor Margolies for The Photographers' Gallery in conjunction with the exhibition Helen Levitt: In the Street (15 October 2021 - 13 February 2022).
Eleanor Margolies is a writer and audio describer. She has a background in puppetry and theatre design, with interests in ecology and the role of the senses in performance. She audio describes in museum, theatre and dance contexts, and has led architectural tours for Open House London.
