Watch Total Refusal in a live streamed performance

This event is part of our Past Programme

Watch the media guerrilla Total Refusal in their project Felt Real Might Delete Later where they transform a number of selected NPCs (extras in video games) into social media influencers. Profiles of NPCs were created and uploaded to multiple social media channels, such as Tinder, Instagram, Zoom, Twitch and TikTok. By doing so the collective investigated current excesses of late capitalist media.

Screen Walks is a new series of live-streamed artist/researcher-led explorations of online spaces and artistic strategies designed to illuminate a thriving – often overlooked – digital cultural scene. A new online collaboration between The Photographers’ Gallery, UK and Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland.

Biography

The pseudo-marxist media guerrilla Total Refusal explores and practices strategies for artistic intervention in contemporary computer games. It works with tools of appropriation and rededication of game resources. Their films and performances were presented among others at Berlinale ‘20 and at the MoMA in NYC and they recently received the award for the best Austrian short documentary (Diagonale’20, Graz).
