Trustees

Amanda Gray - Chair
Amanda Gray is a Partner at international law firm, Mishcon de Reya, specialising in art law and the related field of luxury assets. She works with collectors, dealers, auction houses, artists, public and private institutions and foundations. Amanda has been a trustee of the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA); is the Honorary Legal Counsel for Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft, Sussex, is the co-chair of the Art Lawyers Association; and is also a member of the Responsible Art Market committee, London Chapter. [Appointed 2024]

Michelle Shuttleworth
Michelle Shuttleworth is an experienced financial and operational leader, having held CFO roles across both the private and public sector, including BBC, Burberry, Thomson Reuters and Scope.  Michelle is an active advocate for women in finance, having assisted in founding the BBC’s Women’s Network.  She is also passionate about the Arts, regularly speaking on the importance of finance in this sector and ensuring that resources are employed in the most impactful way for audiences. A mother to four young boys, Michelle is committed to widening access to the arts and the inspiring worlds it can open for young people. [Appointed 2021]

Polly Barnes
Polly Barnes is a chief people officer who has worked in-house at global board level and as a consultant to start-ups. Polly is currently Operating Partner at EQT Ventures. [Appointed 2022]

Rafaël Biosse Duplan
Raf retired as CEO and Board Member of a global asset manager in 2021. Beforehand he held senior management positions in investment banks for 15 years, where he structured and managed risk across markets. He is an alumnus from the Harvard Kennedy School and the ESCP Grande École. In 2007, he was one of the founders of EMpower UK, a global philanthropy focused on at-risk youth in Emerging Markets. He co-chairs the V&A Photographic Acquisition Group which supports the purchase of new works for the V&A permanent collection. [Appointed 2024]

Laura El-Tantawy
Laura El-Tantawy is an award winning British/Egyptian documentary photographer, book maker and educator. Her projects investigate notions of home and belonging, routinely approaching her work from a social and environmental perspective inspired by her transatlantic background. [Appointed 2024]

Montana Leigh Hall
Montana Leigh Hall is the founder of Run The Check, a platform that showcases paid creative opportunities. With an audience of over 30,000 on social media, RTC advertises jobs for organisations such as Penguin Random House, V&A, Serpentine Galleries, D&AD and Wieden+Kennedy. As well as working with the Design Museum Young Creatives and the RA’s Attract programme Montana has been involved with The Photographers’ Gallery youth outreach since 2015 when she led a teen tour and took part in a panel discussion on Higher Education in 2019. She is currently studying Interaction Design Arts at UAL’s London College of Communication. Her long-standing interest in visual and digital arts and youth advocacy brings a creative and digitally savvy approach to her Trustee role at TPG. [Appointed 2021]

Joe Phelan 
Joe Phelan is a communications executive, who has devised and led global campaigns for a number of Governments, corporates and well known individuals.  He is the European lead for the New York based Greatest Works Agency, which advises major educational and cultural institutions on ways to engage with new audiences and generate new streams of revenue, through both site-based and digital educational experiences. In addition to his role as a Trustee of The Photographers’ Gallery, Joe is a Future Contemporary of the Serpentine Gallery and a Young Patron of the Royal Academy of Arts. [Appointed 2018]

​Elspeth Walker
Elspeth Walker is a writer with a particular interest in extending the accessibility and diversity of arts and culture. Elspeth holds a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Warwick and is founder of the Compression Arts Collective, a group that produces written content around contemporary arts. She currently works as an exhibition host at the Hayward Gallery as well as a voluntary copywriter at Agora Digital Art.  Elspeth is especially interested in extending the reach of arts education and brings an informed and valuable perspective to her Trustee role at TPG. ​Kay Watson
Kay Watson is a researcher, producer and curator working with art and advanced technologies, photography and video games. She is currently Head of Arts Technologies at Serpentine where she leads the art and technology programme. [Appointed 2022]
